ABOUT SCIENCE AND SCIENTIFIC
THINKING IN YOUNG MINDS
AND STUDENTS

◆◆WHAT IS NATURE OF SCIENCE ?-- Science education researcher Norman Lederman distinguishes 3 aspects of
science: 1)science as a body of knowledge 2) science as a process or method, and
3)science as a way of constructing knowledge about the natural world. *Based on the work of Lederman, Akerson, “the nature of science” can be into many but few points are listed here; 1) Scientific knowledge is empirically-based and is derived from observations of the natural world and curious for that. 2)It is important to distinguish observations (based on the five senses) from interpretations 3)Involves human inference i.e. imagination and creativity of the scientists.

◆◆WHAT IS SCIENTIFIC WAY OF THINKING?--1)Thinking scientifically involves asking questions that can be answered analytically by collecting data or creating a model and then testing one's ideas. 2)A scientific way of thinking includes creativity in approaching explanations. 3)The scientific process is a way of building knowledge and making predictions that can be tested and are accepted as scientific law.

"The scientist is not a person who gives the right answers, he is one who asks the right questions." ~ by Claude Lévi-Strauss

◆◆WHAT  MAKES ASKING SCIENTIFIC QUESTIONS IN YOUNG MINDS AND #student ?-- 1)Encouraging their skills, giving young people the freedom to devise and carry out investigative science projects. 2)Making them passionately curious, giving new challenges 3)explore the unknow 4)expose them to many and 5) let them open the secret doors of universe, nature make to study.

◆◆WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT SCIENCE ?
1)Young people thought that studying science was beneficial for society because it helped people and It is really good for the future of society.
2)Have difficulties in making direct links and associations between what they learn at school, and how they apply this in everyday situations. 3)The majority of young people thought that science-related careers could provide rewarding employment, although a relatively limited range of possible jobs was revealed.
