ABOUT SCIENCE AND SCIENTIFIC THINKING IN YOUNG MINDS AND STUDENTS ◆◆WHAT IS NATURE OF SCIENCE ?-- Science education researcher Norman Lederman distinguishes 3 aspects of science: 1)science as a body of knowledge 2) science as a process or method, and 3)science as a way of constructing knowledge about the natural world. *Based on the work of Lederman, Akerson, “the nature of science” can be into many but few points are listed here; 1) Scientific knowledge is empirically-based and is derived from observations of the natural world and curious for that. 2)It is important to distinguish observations (based on the five senses) from interpretations 3)Involves human inference i.e. imagination and creativity of the scientists. ◆◆WHAT IS SCIENTIFIC WAY OF THINKING?--1)Thinking scientifically involves asking questions that can be answered analytically by collecting data or creating a model and then testing one's ideas. 2)A scientific way of thinking includes creativity in
